Will Smith's action comedy with a 97% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes dominates the streaming charts

Not long after it was announced that Will Smith would reunite with original Bad Boys director Michael Bay for his upcoming Netflix film, his latest appearance as Mike Lowery is smashing the streaming charts. Bad Boys: Ride or Die recently began streaming on Netflix and immediately jumped to the top of the charts, where it currently sits at number one, ahead of The Menendez Brothers, the recent documentary release that followed Season 2 of Ryan Murphy’s Monsters. Bad Boys: Ride or Die follows Mike Lowrey (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) like you’ve never seen them before, now on the run after their former boss is framed for a crime he didn’t commit. The film also stars Vanessa Hudgens and Alexander Ludwig, and currently has a 65% critics and 97% general audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Chris Bremner and Will Beall collaborated on writing the screenplay for Bad Boys: Ride or Die, and Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah directed the film. Bremner also wrote the screenplay for Bad Boys for Life, the 2020 prequel to Bad Boys: Ride or Die, and also penned the screenplay for Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson’s ensemble action film, The Man from Toronto. Bale recently wrote the screenplay for Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, and also has a writing credit on Zack Snyder’s Justice League. He made his DC debut in 2018 writing the screenplay for the Aquaman movie after working on the spin-off series Training Day. Arabi and Fallah made their directorial debut in 2014 on Image and also directed two episodes of the series Ms. Marvel between their work on Bad Boys 3 and 4.

What else is popular on Netflix?

The unlikely comic book movie team-up between Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg, 2 Guns, was recently added to Netflix and has also been a hit on the platform, alongside The Garfield Movie, which was panned by critics earlier in the year but performed admirably at the box office, where It has grossed over $250 million worldwide. The first Kung Fu Panda movie starring Jack Black has also crept into Netflix’s top 10 movies list, currently sitting in 10th place.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, written by Chris Bremner and Will Beall, and directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilal Fallah. Stay tuned to Collider for future streaming updates and watch Bad Boys: Ride or Die on Netflix.
