Continuing History Daily: The Story of the Dissolution of the Oasis

Now that Oasis are set to reunite for a set of shows in 2025, stories about some of the band’s past antics have resurfaced. Considering the way the group had acted in their earlier years, it was surprising that they were still alive let alone surviving. Here is one such story.

In 1994, Oasis was on tour in America one month after the release of the album Definitely Maybe. Their support was the Brian Jonestown Massacre. The two bands didn’t get along. When the tour arrived in Los Angeles, Noel Gallagher asked the massacre men if they had any cocaine. What he got instead was pure methamphetamine. He stayed up for the next three days and was not in the best of moods or at his best on stage. Liam ended up hitting Noel over the head with his tambourine during an important performance at the Whiskey A Go Go.

This led to a large explosion during which Noel left the oasis for a few days. It was only after he spoke to an early fan named Melissa Lim that Noel reconsidered and returned to the group. At least it leads to a new song called Talk Tonight.
