Guilherme “Bomba” Vasconcelos, an MMA fighter and Bellator competitor who was in a relationship with Demi Lovato, has died.

Vasconcelos’ family appeared to confirm his death via TMZ on Tuesday, October 15. He was 38 years old.

Vasconcelos’ uncle, Walter Vasconcelos Jr., also shared in a roughly translated statement on Facebook, “Very sad to say goodbye, Guilherme Vasconcelos! And yet from us in the USA. My dear nephew, my divine son, father of little Naomi, beloved son of my sister Elisabet Vasconcelos, partner of his brothers, Breno and Isabella and our extended family who today mourn his untimely passing.

He added: “You have pursued your dreams in America as a mixed martial arts fighter, Guilherme Bomba, the Brazilian champion, but we do not believe that it will also take you on a journey of no return, without either of us. We’ve been waiting for you to come for Christmas, and it won’t happen anymore. Life is a breath and we wake up to this heartbreaking news. What time do we live in? We are praying for you! May God Almighty receive you with his infinite mercy and console all those who have always loved you!

Vasconcelos’ cause of death is unknown.

The martial artist nicknamed “Pumbaa” has appeared numerous times across mixed martial arts platforms throughout his career. According to his Instagram bio, he was also a “4th degree black belt, professor, fighter, athlete, and entertainer” as well as a former UFC and TUF fighter. Additionally, he was a national and world jiu-jitsu champion.
