Her mother, Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, had previously had doctors remove several of Gypsy-Rose’s teeth and salivary glands after they claimed her baby girl was suffering from tooth decay.

When Gypsy Rose was younger, she was a victim of Munchausen by proxy, with her mother allegedly making her believe she was suffering from various illnesses. Dee Dee’s actions resulted in Gypsy-Rose needlessly undergoing multiple procedures, including the aforementioned surgery.

In December 2023, after nearly nine years in prison for her involvement in her mother’s 2015 murder, she told PEOPLE that removing her saliva was her most painful and unnecessary procedure.

In April, Gypsy Rose decided to have rhinoplasty. Since the procedure, she revealed during the Wednesday, October 16, podcast episode “Going Deeper with Gypsy-Rose Blanchard and Ken” that she had been experiencing “a little bit” of anxiety from the trauma while undergoing the procedure.

She explained that the concern “was not as much as people might think because this was a surgery that I chose to have of my own volition.” Adding, “This is something I’ve wanted for a long time. My nose has bothered me forever, and social media has made it worse. I’ve been called a nose.”

Gypsy Rose admitted that having the surgery boosted her self-confidence and made her โ€œfeel like the woman I am.โ€ [she wants] “to become.”
