Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds was shot twice after leaving the Shotgun Willie strip club in Glendale, Colorado on October 18, according to a report by 9News’ Janet Oravetz.
Reynolds, 29, is doing fine. He has been training this week on a side court with other injured players, rehabilitating a finger injury.
Several vehicles from the strip club followed Reynolds and two other men and shot them. Reynolds was shot in the arm and the back of the head. Another man was shot in the back, and a third man suffered a fracture.
The three men were riding in a blue Ford Bronco when the shooting occurred. When their car stopped running, they fled, climbed a fence, and police responded to their 911 calls.
The three victims said they had not been involved in any incidents at the strip club before the shooting, according to court documents obtained by 9News.
Denver police announced that Burr Charlesworth and Luis Mendoza were arrested in the case on Wednesday. Video footage showed Mendoza observing Reynolds and the two other men in the club and following them when they left. Three vehicles were following the victims when they left.
Reynolds is already on injured reserve with a finger injury. He was eligible to return from that injury in Week 10, but the injuries from that shooting could delay the receiver’s potential return to the field.
Before going to IR, Reynolds caught 12 receptions for 183 yards and one touchdown in five games this season. He signed a two-year, $9 million contract with the Broncos this spring.
The team released the following statement on Thursday: “Josh Reynolds was the victim of a shooting Friday in Denver and was treated for minor injuries. “Out of respect for due process, we will defer further comment on this matter to the authorities.”
