Mike McDaniel isn't giving up on Dolphins WR Odell Beckham Jr.

October is coming to a close and Odell Beckham Jr. is still… He did not record a reception with the Miami Dolphins.

After starting the year on the physically unable to perform list, Beckham made three appearances for the Dolphins. But three goals in his first two games were incomplete and Beckham played just 11 snaps in Miami’s 28-27 loss on Sunday.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said he was encouraged by what he saw in that limited time.

“I thought he looked as comfortable as he looked,” McDaniel said of Beckham on Monday. “I think just [Tagovailoa] I see it on tape and we’re kind of adapting to what the players are showing us and I think it’s been going the best way, so I expect more involvement.

But is Beckham willing to continue to be patient in an offense that has found a way to include Washington rookie sixth-round pick and former practice squad receiver Dee Eskridge?

When fans on social media mocked Beckham for failing to record a reception while on the field for the Dolphins, the veteran receiver responded by seemingly pointing out that he was open but not getting the ball.

“I think it was a step in the right direction, although the box score doesn’t really evaluate that,” McDaniel said of Beckham. “From our standpoint, the way we look at offense and the way we look at doing our jobs, I think he’s done a good job with the opportunities he’s been given, and we’re going to continue to push that envelope as we try to maximize success.” “He found out what kind of football team we are and we know he can help us.”

The Dolphins offense had its most productive day in Week 8, but came up one point short of the Cardinals. Tagovailoa targeted eight different receivers on Sunday with Tyreek Hill, De’Von Achane, Jaylen Waddle and Jonnu Smith each getting at least six targets.

Beckham signed a one-year, $3 million deal with the Dolphins that included $5.25 million in additional incentives. He needs to record at least 36 receptions, 566 yards, and/or four touchdowns to receive more than $3 million.
