As of Friday afternoon, officials reported that three buildings were threatened by fire. While no roads are closed, drivers are urged to use caution in the area. “When driving on Green Pond Road, please use extreme caution with Fire Department traffic,” the fire department said.
The fire comes shortly after a 77-acre wildfire broke out near Jacobs Road in Rockaway Township, amid a continued high fire danger across the state due to weeks of dry conditions.

The fire warning is currently rated as severe, and Morris County is under a red flag warning, according to the service.
A red flag warning indicates that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring or expected to occur soon due to a combination of strong winds, low humidity and dry fuels. Any fires that develop can quickly escalate and become difficult to control.
