The Israeli army raided southern Syria several months ago and arrested a Syrian national believed to be running Iranian terrorist networks from the region, the Israeli military announced on Sunday.
Ali Suleiman Al-Assi, a Syrian citizen, lives in the Sidon region in southern Syria.
His work included gathering intelligence on Israeli army forces in the border area for the network’s future terrorist activity.
He remained under IDF surveillance for some time and was arrested and transferred for interrogation in Israel.

IDF raids continue
This update comes only a few days after the raid launched by the Israeli army on Lebanon to arrest the leader of Hezbollah, Imad Fadel Amhaz.
During that raid, members of the Israeli commando unit Shayetet 13 entered an apartment building where Amhaz was staying.
The operation took four minutes and took place in the city of Batroun in northern Lebanon, about 140 kilometers from the Israeli border.
This is a developing story.
