WASHINGTON — The calendar has officially flipped to November, with the season of less daylight on the horizon, Thanksgiving and Christmas on the horizon, and a new round of Social Security payments to beneficiaries.

The Social Security Administration sends out regular monthly payments (SSA benefits), but the date varies — generally depending on the day you were born. Retirement, Disability, and Social Security Survivor Disability (RSDI) beneficiaries who filed claims after May 1, 1997, are assigned on either the second, third, or fourth Wednesday of the month.

Those who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), which is monthly payments for people with disabilities and seniors who have little or no income or resources, get their money on the first of the month.

If the first day falls on a weekend, as was the case in September, payments will be issued on the Friday before the first. Those who received benefits before May 1997 also have a set payment date.

Social Security benefits will rise by 2.5% in 2025

Social Security recipients will get a 2.5% increase in their monthly checks in 2025. Analysts had expected a 2.5% increase for 2025, which is lower than increases in the previous two years and reflects moderate inflation. Beneficiaries received a 3.2% increase in their benefits in 2024, after a historically large 8.7% increase in 2023, due to record inflation that reached a 40-year high.

Below are the dates when beneficiaries can expect their monthly payments in November.

Social Security Payment Schedule for November 2024 Social Security (SSA) beneficiaries who started receiving benefits before May 1997: November 1 Birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month: November 13 (second Wednesday of the month) Birthday between the 11th and 20th of the month : November 20 (3rd Wednesday of the month) Christmas between the 21st and 31st of the month: November 27 (4th Wednesday of the month) 2 Social Security payments in November for some.

Meanwhile, those who receive SSI will receive an additional check in November due to how the payment schedule is structured.

As mentioned earlier, the Social Security Administration typically sends out payments on the first day of the month for SSI. However, if the date falls on a weekend or holiday – such as on Sunday, December 1 – the administration will pay earlier.

In this case, SSI recipients will receive their December payments on Friday, November 29.

How to report a missing Social Security payment

Those who don’t receive their electronic payments on time should contact their bank or financial institution first, according to the Social Security Administration — which notes that it “may experience a delay in posting your payment.”

Those who still need to report a late, lost, or stolen Social Security payment should contact the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) or contact their local Social Security office.

“We will review the case and, if payment is due, we will replace it,” the department said on its website.
