The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, 131-114. This is the second loss in a row for the Lakers and the fourth loss in the last five games.
This slide in Los Angeles comes after an impressive 3-0 start to JJ Redick’s tenure as head coach. At the beginning of the season, there seemed to be a real level of cohesion between LeBron James and Anthony Davis at the bottom of the roster, but that has faltered a bit recently.
In addition to Los Angeles’ overall play, one story has been Bronny James. After being selected 55th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, Bronny appeared in four of Los Angeles’ eight games, tallying four total points in 13 minutes of action.

With the G League season underway, it was announced after the Grizzlies game that the Lakers had sent Bronny to South Bay.
Via ESPN’s Shams Charania: “The Lakers today assigned Bronny James to their NBA affiliate, the South Bay, where he is expected to make his debut against Salt Lake City on Saturday,” sources said. James will be on the Lakers roster against 76ers on Friday, then rejoins the South Bay.”

Charania added an interesting update, saying Bronny is only expected to play in the South Bay Lakers’ home games.
“Right now, sources said, the G League’s plan is for Bronny James to play South Bay’s home games only — rotating between the two leagues and the team managing his time on the respective rosters,” Charania added.

It’s certainly not uncommon for a second-round pick to spend time in the G League, especially a player as young as 20-year-old James.
