“This is a claim filed under false pretenses,” Henyard’s attorney, Beau Brindley, told WGN of the eviction proceedings. “I do not believe that proof can be provided that the payment was not made. This is motivated by other motives and is not a complaint made in good faith.”
Former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is heading an investigation into Henyard’s spending. Hennard is also accused of billing the city $67,000 for out-of-town travel during a five-month period in 2023.
In April, FBI agents visited Dolton City Hall to execute a search warrant. However, it remains unclear what they were looking for or who exactly they were investigating.

Henyard was elected, according to the village website, in February 2021 with 82 percent of the vote after serving eight years as village trustee. She made history as the first woman to serve as mayor of Dolton, as well as the youngest woman ever.
“As a lifelong Dolton resident, Mayor Henyard is passionate about Dolton and continuing to live in the community in which she grew up,” her bio says.
A court date for Henyard and Woods’ eviction proceedings is set for October 22.
