He continued: “So that’s the first thing, and then the second thing, which is kind of liberating for the writing staff — it was justifiable for Harrison Ford, Jason Segel to say, we’d like the show to still be mostly about us.

“But not only did they embrace the band, everyone was amazed at how the two guys, Luke Tenney and Luketa Maxwell, who play Alice and Sean, were able to hang out with these comedy hitters and icons.

“And so expanding the world to include their lives and their stories wasn’t something we necessarily intended to do. Sean was kind of a catalyst as a patient the first year, and then this year, we’re kind of burying ourselves in his life a little bit, but it’s been acquired, and that means we’re trying to focus “On what works.”
McGinley plays Derek, Liz’s (Christa Miller) wife in the series, while Tiny plays patient and inmate Jimmy Sean and Maxwell plays Jimmy’s daughter.
Along with the aforementioned cast, Jessica Williams and Michael Urie will also return in the lead roles, while Brett Goldstein, co-creator and star of Ted Lasso, will appear as a special guest star in a currently undisclosed role.
Shrinking Season 2 will premiere globally with the first two episodes on Wednesday, October 16 on Apple TV+, followed by a new episode weekly, every Wednesday through December 25, 2024. You can subscribe on Apple TV+ here.
