SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio – A former St.
Emily Notley, 42, was charged with six counts of sexual battery, a third-degree felony, because of her relationship with a minor, Powers said. She faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
Notley was working at St. Xavier’s in the fall of 2023 as a supervisor for a program to help students who are struggling academically, Powers said. A 17-year-old student, Notley, with whom she was in a relationship, was assigned to the program, Powers said.
Powers said Notley began communicating with the student outside of school hours, including sexually explicit text messages and nude photos of herself.
In November 2023, Notley began a physical relationship with the student that included multiple encounters. Powers said Notley and the student engaged in sexual activities on the Saint
“When the victim attempted to stop the confrontations, Notley continued to contact the victim via text messages,” Powers said in a news release.
The sexual relationship was uncovered through an internal investigation by St. Louis officials. X. Springfield Township Police then investigated the allegations, which led to charges. The Prosecutor’s Office does not currently believe there are any other victims.
Powers called the sexual assault “completely unacceptable” and “reprehensible.”
“Let me be very clear: this is child sexual assault,” Powers said. “This child was the victim of an adult predator who should never have a role that brought her into contact with children again. She used this child for her own sexual gratification while taking advantage of the position she held.”
