LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (WKYT) – A Lawrenceburg woman has had a big hit in the Kentucky Lottery.
According to lottery officials, the woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, won the $277,183.75 jackpot in September while playing the Kentucky Lottery Online Instant Play Coins Of The Titans game.
“I’m a nurse, and I had just finished working back-to-back shifts, so I was exhausted,” the woman said. “I started playing outside the zone before bed.”
Soon after, I got rewarded in the game. “I saw the stars falling, so I knew it was a big win,” she told lottery officials. “They kept falling, and I knew what that meant. I couldn’t believe it. I was wide awake.
She woke up her husband, who was also finding it difficult to believe it. He asked her, “Are you sure?”
The Anderson County couple has been playing the Kentucky Lottery online for a couple of years, and more recently, they have been playing jackpot games online but have never won anything of this size.
“I kept checking my email to make sure it was real,” she said.
The couple traveled to Louisville on September 30 to collect the check for $199,572.30 after taxes. They plan to pay off their student loans and invest in their future with the winnings.
