History u. CHARLES, Mo. – Lindenwood women’s volleyball (15-7, 9-1 OVC) defeated Tennessee State (5-17, 1-8 OVC) at home Thursday in a 3-0 sweep. The Lions improved to 9-1 in Ohio Valley Conference play and have won six straight games.

“Tennessee has some great hitters who can score runs,” head coach Will Condon said. “We knew we were going to have to do a good job on several levels to try to contain them. I thought we were in a very good position in the first set when they went 8-1 up. We can score points in sets, so we will stay focused on where we are and not on the score.” With which we can compensate for our delay.”

Allie Otten made history Thursday night by becoming the third Lindenwood Lion ever to reach 3,000 assists (NCAA era). She finished the game with 34 assists while helping the Lions hit .276 for the game. She also notched 15 digs to double her 15th.

Nyah Wilson had a team-high 14 kills on 29 attacks while hitting .448. She also had 15 digs for a double-double. Autumn Backes added nine kills and two blocks while Addie McAleer scored 15 points. In just her second start, Faith Atkins had six kills and two blocks while hitting .545.

Jessie Seidel was the third Lion on Thursday to get in double figures with 14. She also added two aces and four assists. Lindenwood’s defense shut down the Tigers’ offense after hitting .039 with 24 offensive errors.

TSU jumped out of the gate in the first set to take an 8-1 lead before Condon’s timeout. Lindenwood came back in the end to take the lead and win the set 25-21. Wilson had seven kills in 10 swings while the Bucks added five more. LU had 18 kills in the first set and hit .304.

Lindenwood found itself trailing early in the second set as well, but fought back to win the set 25-18. McAleer had five kills in the second set and Auten added 13 assists. She had 29 assists in the first two sets. Wilson and Siddle each had five defensive digs.

The third set was all Lindenwood as LU finished the match with a 25-14 win for its sixth sweep in OVC play. Lindenwood capitalized on TSU’s mistakes after the Tigers scored 12 points in the final set.

“I thought we served hard and then defended well behind the bar,” Condon said. “We didn’t get a ton of aces, TSU did a good job of making some tough passes and finding ways to swing at them. I thought overall it was a good team win from the standpoint of our willingness to put in the effort and find ways to score points in different ways.”

Lindenwood and Tennessee State will face off again inside Hyland Arena on Friday, October 25th starting at 6:00 PM CT and broadcast on ESPN+. For more information, go to lindenwoodlions.com.
