Anthony Davis talks about his relationship with Anthony Edwards after the Olympics

Anthony Davis and Anthony Edwards are two ants on separate teams. They faced each other Tuesday night in the season opener and competed like old friends.

Davis was amazing, finishing the night with 36 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks, while Edwards set his own numbers with 27 points, six rebounds and three assists.

In the end, the Lakers defeated the Wolves 110-103, achieving their first victory on the opening night since 2016.

Although they played in two completely different positions, the two stars had moments when they were in direct confrontation with each other. Towards the end of the third quarter, AD equalized against Ant before the two exchanged words.

After the match, AD reassured everyone that it was competitive but in fun. He also stated that the other Ant hated playing for the Lakers the most because of the defensive attention they gave him.

“Actually, it goes back to the Olympics,” Davis said. “We talked about it and he said we’re the team he hates playing on the most because we don’t let him make plays. We make him pass the ball. I got a f–one on him. I was yelling at him. It’s just brotherly love. That’s my guy. We call each other out.” Some with twins, same name and things like that so it wasn’t serious.

With Ant being Minnesota’s best player, of course, the Lakers were going to focus on making his job as difficult as possible.

Keeping Edwards as much as possible was part of the Lakers’ impressive defensive night. He scored 27, but they defended him well on the perimeter, forcing him to go 5-13 from 3-point range and, more importantly, picking up a win in the process.

We’ve heard story after story of Team USA creating or strengthening bonds between players. The Heats played together during the Olympics before they united, and Kevin Durant and Booker did as well before becoming teammates in Phoenix.

AD and Edwards will probably always be friendly rivals and only teammates on Team USA and in the All-Star Games.

However, the motto “Always Hire” remains constant in Los Angeles. You never know where your career can go, and knowing Anthony Davis like Edwards and the mutual feeling is something you should keep in mind.

Coming into this season, it’s clear that M is the man in Southern California. He’s the fulcrum on both sides of the ball, and while LeBron is the bigger star, Davis is the better player.

With a contract that runs through 2028, he will likely be on the team after LeBron is gone, and will need another placeholder. I’m not saying, I’m just saying, it’s good to know that Edwards and he are nice to each other. Talk soon.
