Guy Ritchie’s upcoming film, Wife & Dog, is set to star Oscar nominee Benedict Cumberbatch, Oscar nominee Rosamund Pike, and two-time Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins.
Details of the film’s plot are being kept under wraps, but it is being described as “a return to the colorful world of the British aristocracy that Ritchie explored in the film and TV series The Gentlemen.”
Filming is scheduled to begin in February 2025 in the United Kingdom.
The screenplay is written by Ritchie, who is also producing alongside longtime producing partner Evan Atkinson and Black Bear’s John Friedberg. Executive producers include Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Himmler for Black Bear.
Black Bear launched sales on the titles at Cannes earlier this year, and the film marks the company’s third collaboration with Ritchie and Atkinson following The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and In the Grey.
The film was part of AFM’s busy lineup for Black Bear alongside new titles including the Idris Elba actioner Hammer Down and the Joseph Gordon-Levitt Pendulum genre film from Mark Heyman, who wrote Black Swan. Sales continued for Christy Martin’s untitled film directed by David Michôd and starring Sidney Sweeney as the champion boxer. Spa Weekend comedians Leslie Mann and Isla Fisher, from the Bad Moms filmmaking team; Leo Woodall and Dustin Hoffman steal the thriller Synergy; Greg Araki’s provocative thriller, I Want Your Sex, starring Olivia Wilde; And an untitled action movie by Jason Statham.
Cumberbatch is represented by Conway Van Gilder Grant, Utah, and Sloan, Over. Pike is repped by CAA, United Agents and Magnolia Entertainment. Hopkins is repped by Independent Talent Group, UTA, Goodman, and Gino. Ritchie is repped by WME and Matthew Saver.
