OKEECHOBEE COUNTY, Fla. – A precautionary boil water advisory will be issued for Okeechobee County Wednesday morning ahead of Hurricane Milton.
The notice will go into effect at 8 a.m. Wednesday, the Okeechobee Utilities Authority said Tuesday afternoon in a Facebook post. The warning will be in effect until further notice.
Okeechobee County is under a hurricane warning as Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall in Florida as a Category 4 storm late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.

WPTV reporter Ethan Stein spoke with Okeechobee Mayor Dowling-Watford on Tuesday about the impending storm and his concerns about the potential for mobile homes in the county to become dangerous projectiles under strong enough winds.
The Okeechobee Utilities Authority said it will close on Wednesday and reopen on Thursday at noon.
