Boston Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman has been offered a $64 million contract, according to team president Cam Neely.
Swayman, a restricted free agent, did not report to training camp because he is awaiting a new deal.
Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said goalie Joonas Korpisalo is set to open the season for Boston, via Amalie Benjamin of NHL.com.
Swayman played the 2023-24 season on a one-year, $3.475 million contract after a salary arbitration hearing.
He has flourished alongside Linus Ullmark, the 2022-23 Vezina Award winner. Ullmark and Swayman helped the Bruins maintain an average of 2.70 goals allowed per game last season, the fifth-best mark among all NHL teams.

It was Allmark Traded To the Ottawa Senators in June, seemingly paving the way for Swayman to become their new No. 1 goaltender.
However, the Bruins are approaching their regular-season debut on Oct. 8 without a contract agreement with the 25-year-old. If Swayman does not sign by Dec. 1, he will not be eligible to play during the 2024-25 season.
βHe chose to wait, and rightly so, until the contract was settled,β Sweeney said on Sept. 18, per Benjamin. βWe intend to continue negotiating the contract. I am disappointed because when you make things a priority as a general manager you do your best to try to achieve that and I have not been able to do that yet.β “
He added, “Ultimately, I am optimistic because I believe we will find a place to land before December 1.”
A potential $64 million deal would make Swayman the fifth-highest paid goaltender in the NHL in terms of total contract value, per Spotrac.
With no deal in place, the Bruins appear ready to enter the regular season without their goaltender.
