Check your fridge: Cheese sold at Aldi is being recalled from other retailers

Several types of semi-soft cheese have been recalled from 12 states due to possible listeria contamination.

Pennsylvania-based Savencia Cheese USA is voluntarily recalling six types of mature cheese. The products were sold at Aldi, as well as at Market Basket, a supermarket chain in the Northeast.

The states included in the recall are California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, Oregon, Texas and Washington.

The following cheeses are affected by withdrawal:

Emporium Selection Brie, 12/8 oz Oval Supreme Brie 7 oz, 6/7 oz La Bonne Vie Brie, 6/8 oz La Bonne Vie Camembert, 6/8 oz 12/8 oz Artificial Brie, 6/8 oz ounce

The “Best Buy” dates and UPC numbers for the recalled cheeses are listed in a statement on the FDA’s website.

According to the statement, retailers who received the cheese have been notified of this potential contamination and are in the process of removing the products from shelves. Consumers who have any of the recalled products are advised not to eat them and should dispose of them or return to the place of purchase.
