Critics urge 'urgent investigation' into D'Esposito

Nassau residents rallied for good government Wednesday outside the office of U.S. Rep. Anthony D’Esposito (R-Island Park) in Garden City, where he allegedly violated House ethics rules.

The New York Times revealed that D’Esposito hired a woman with whom he had an affair with his fiancée’s daughter. Shortly after D’Esposito was sworn in in 2022, he hired his fiancée’s daughter as a special assistant in his Garden City-area office, where she was paid $3,800 a month, the article said. Protesters outside the office called on D’Esposito to repay the $29,000 in taxpayer money he used to pay both employees. They also called for a “prompt investigation” into this potential ethical violation.
