Donald Glover cancels Childish Gambino's remaining tour due to health

Donald Glover has made the decision to cancel the rest of Childish Gambino’s North American and UK tour dates, after they were postponed last month.

The artist took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the news that due to health issues, he has canceled the remainder of his tour dates to heal.

“After my show in New Orleans, I went to the hospital in Houston to check on my illness, which had become apparent,” he wrote. “After assessment, it became clear that I would not be performing that night, and after further testing, I was unable to perform the rest of the American tour in the required time.”

He continued: “So far I have an appointment for surgery and I need time to heal. My path to recovery is something I have to face seriously. However, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of our North American, UK and European tour.

All tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase. While Glover indicated that the shows will not continue for the time being, he seems determined to finish the tour at some point.

“I want nothing more than to bring this show to the fans and perform,” he concluded. “Until then, thanks for the love, privacy and support.”

Last month, Glover postponed the rest of his tour dates to focus on his physical health after his show in Houston. The new world tour was scheduled to run until October 3 in the United States, before the overseas leg begins in November.

The tour was meant to be Glover’s farewell to Childish Gambino, as he said earlier this year that he was ready to move on from his alter ego.

“It was really like, ‘Oh, it’s over,'” he said in July. “It’s not satisfactory. And I felt like I didn’t need to build that way anymore.”

He explained at the time that being a parent partly influenced his decision to retire the title.

“I’m not 25 years old anymore, standing in front of a rock saying, ‘This has got to move,’” Glover said. “You give what you can, but there is beauty everywhere and in every moment. You don’t have to build it. You don’t have to look for it.”

He added: “When I put my son on my shoulders, I feel a deep joy. This is real. No one on their deathbed will look back and say, “Thank God I avoided feeling down.”
