What did you benefit from Klay Thompson’s departure? Draymond Green: Klay’s departure is just a reminder that this won’t last forever. One day, everything we know will end. With Klay gone, it’s a reminder of how fragile it is and how fast it can go [it] That could change. From one day to the next everything can look different in this league. For me it was just a reminder that tomorrow might not be the same team. It may not be the same person. I have no reason to believe I won’t be here. But you can never be too sure. Honestly, with all my heart, I think I will end my career here. But things are changing. This is just reality. And sometimes it’s not in your control. Sometimes it’s not under the warriors’ control. It’s just such a sport. This is the business we are in.

With all the tributes happening to Milojevic, Green figured it was time for a change. “When Dickey finished last season, you see all the pictures of everybody and stuff. And you realize, ‘All the pictures, you’re not in any of them because you were bored with everything else,'” Green said. “So, all the moments that everybody’s enjoying, ‘Okay.’ I got to do this. I got to do this. I have to go and prepare my body. You have to do this. And forget to enjoy it. So, it then turns into grinding. So, for me that was just a big reminder that you’re missing the fun part of it. So, all you do is just get ready to get ready. You’re missing the fun part of it. -Via Andscape/October 18, 2024
She signed a four-year, $100 million contract last year. Can you see yourself playing next? Draymond Green: The crazy thing is, I was determined to do this two years ago. And this summer I confused myself even more because I said, “Oh, I’m done.” I’m like, “No.” [expletive] You don’t. I’ve got more. You can get past that. I just enjoy everything every day. Another thought that came to my mind was, man, you started talking about what the ending looked like. But the truth is, my body doesn’t feel like I’m anywhere near the end. So, get the idea out of your mind. When it happens, it happens. But stop planning. One percent of people end it on their terms. Stop trying to end it on your terms by ending too early. I’ll know when it’s time, but until I know for sure it’s time, I’ll enjoy every day. I feel incredible. So, until I know it’s time, [expletive] Thinking. [Expletive] Which. Enjoy every second of this. This is my goal. This is my plan. It’s a cliche…but that’s my mentality. -Via Andscape/October 18, 2024
“And so, for me that’s the focus this year. I always go to the team dinner for the most part. But I mean hanging out before the game, when I get to the arena, it’s boom, boom, boom, boom, game. It’s like: ‘I gotta go “All the fun happens between them.” “Good thing he called it out. Go out.” [Hawaii] It was a good change of pace. our [practice] The facility, same sights, same sounds, gets a little redundant at times. To have everyone in one place, the families are here. “No matter how much I tried to get out of it, I love that it was very intentional for him to be in a safe spot,” Warriors guard Stephen Curry told Andscape. “Dickie is a reminder of how to live. There’s no secret now, we only have a few years to do it.” [play basketball] At the highest level.” -via Andscape/October 18, 2024
