90-year-old Frankie Valli has become an Internet sensation, but not for any reason that makes him happy. While the “Big Girls Don’t Cry” singer has been on the road, performing and seemingly enjoying life, some fans have been growing increasingly concerned about his health.
In many of the videos, he appears to be lip-syncing his songs or about to fall off the stage. Vale even issued a statement saying he wasn’t lip syncing, he was in good shape and no one was forcing him to perform or tour.
In a recent interview, Graham Nash and Ann Wilson from the band Heart were chatting and Vale was brought up. “Frankie Valli doesn’t sing. He just lip-syncs badly to the tape,” Nash said frankly. “As a musician, if you’re not singing, you shouldn’t be on stage.”
Nash added that as you get older, your voice will change, and he said there should be no shame in that. He even brought up icon Joni Mitchell as an example of how to change a sound and fans can still enjoy the sound.
Wilson agreed with Nash and continued, “I think that’s the moment where you have to decide whether you’re going to walk out of the theater or not. You really have to look at your morals and say, ‘Do I want to just go out there and phone him in, and do Thor?'” @#$% Because I am, or am I taking the high road?”
