Dave has been using his @davesautocenter TikTok account to provide car tips to his viewers for a long time. It now lets buyers know how to inspect a car before purchasing it.
He published the second part of the series on his account on July 7. So far, it has received more than 550,700 views.
Dave’s Car Inspection Tips
For the video, Dave shows off a used 2023 Honda Civic. He examined the interior of the car in the first part of the series. He now begins examining the interior of the car.
Dave advises his viewers to turn the keys to the start position without flipping the ignition.
“You want to make sure of that [all warning lights] “It turns on before you start the car because a lot of times less honest people can remove that bulb because there’s a problem, and you’ll never see it come on because it’s been removed,” Dave claims.
For the next inspection tip, test drivers are advised to “make sure your mirrors are working.”
Also, “Make sure the windows are fully closed. Pull each seat belt back and forth, making sure it’s retracted.”
Next, he says, “If the seatbelt doesn’t retract, that’s a clear indication that the airbag is faulty [igniter] “It was blown up.”
During his first inspection of the Civic, Dave discovered that it had been rear-ended in a previous accident.

Despite Dave’s tips for getting the car inspected, future owners may want to consider getting professional help before purchasing a car.
According to J.D. Power, “During visual inspections and test drives, motivated buyers sometimes overlook technical, cosmetic and safety defects.”
Therefore, it is always a good idea to have your future car inspected by a professional third party before signing any papers on it.
A Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) is a detailed inspection of the vehicle by a certified mechanic or automotive professional to evaluate the mechanical, aesthetic, and safety conditions of the vehicle. The technician will determine current conditions, point out future problems that could develop later, and investigate to ensure that any prior damage has been adequately repaired “According to J.D. Power.
