There were no surprises after the San Francisco 49ers released their inactive list ahead of Sunday’s Week 7 game against the Kansas City Chiefs:
WR Joan Jennings
T Brayden Willis
K Jake Moody
Ol Ben Bartsch
LB Jalen Graham
CB Darrell Luter
QB Joshua Dobbs (3rd)
Lotter and Jennings didn’t practice all week, and Kyle Shanahan said he doesn’t expect Moody to return before the bye week.
The injury news that may be the most important today that no one mentioned is that Malik Mustafa was not included in the injury report after he participated fully in training on Friday.
Mustafa gives the 49ers a safety threat against the run and the pass. You can trust him as a striker, as a deep safety, and when he plays inside the box. When a rookie can handle multiple roles, it allows you to be versatile as a defenseman.
The 49ers will also welcome cornerback Charvarius Ward. It will be interesting to see how the quarterback rotation versus Ward goes. Last week, Renardo Green proved he can handle a greater workload against capable receivers.
This week, the leaders have only one sound person to trust. Will green be needed? Will they trust him to defend tight ends? We will find out.
