Jelly Roll has remained steadfast in his weight loss efforts after admitting he was addicted to food in the same way he was addicted to drugs.

Now, in the middle of his tour, the country music star has hit a major milestone in his weight loss journey and lost 100 pounds. In May, Jelly Roll told Fox News Digital that he lost “about fifty to seventy pounds” while training for a 5K.

In 2018, the country star revealed on Instagram that he weighed more than 500 pounds in 2015 before embarking on a health journey and losing 200 pounds.

The artist took to Instagram on Wednesday to share, “Next year when you all see me, you won’t recognize me. I’m going to be exposed to a pile of weights like I’ve never been exposed to before.”

In the video, Jelly Roll was joined by his nutrition coach, Ian Larios, who took him on tour, helping him maintain good eating habits and stay active. Larios explained what the country music star was doing to reach this huge milestone in his weight-loss journey.

“We had just passed the halfway point of the tour, and my generation was crushing it,” Larios said. “We either walk [around] Arena, playing basketball and boxing. “He just surpassed his 100-pound weight loss.”

Larios noted that Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley Deford, was focusing on a high-protein diet and shared some of the meals he prepared for the artist. One of Jelly Roll’s favorite pre-show snacks is bananas with Manuka honey, stevia, and dark chocolate shavings.

Jelly Roll says this quick bite gives him “pre-show fuel.” Another staple Larios has for the singer is his role in Nashville Hot Chicken. It takes “the oil and dough out of it,” allowing the jelly roll to have a good amount of protein.

“So this tricks your brain into thinking this is like delicious Nashville hot fried chicken. It’ll feel like eating at home,” Larios said.

On October 14, Jelly Roll was a guest on Jay Shetty’s show On Purpose, and admitted that he struggled with food addiction, just as he struggled with drug abuse.

“The weight for me now is the mountain in front of me, and I’m taking it on, and I’m learning. And I’m very diligent about it. I’m taking it seriously, and I’m drinking a lot.” “I’m cold, I’m eating right, I’m doing well,” Jelly Roll told Shetty.

“I just have to fight the pirate on my shoulder, you know ’em late at night, I’m a food addict, man. I may not have said this openly before, but this is the podcast to be real about it.”

“I’ve had a bad relationship with food since I was born. I’ve never had a good relationship with food. I’ve never had a good example of that around me. I’ve always said that I believe obesity is directly related to mental health,” he continued. “I know how easy it is for people to say: ‘Stop Stop eating a lot of food, and just exercise. “It’s very easy.”

“I wish I looked at food that way,” he continued. “But I understand it from an addict’s perspective, because I know what addiction is and how my struggle with food is the same way I struggled with codeine. It’s the same way I struggled with cocaine.”

Jelly Roll explained that it took “years” to be in the same room with others who used cocaine before he was able to not do it himself. Now, he feels the same way with food.

He chooses to keep all foods out of his green room: “I need to change my whole relationship with the way I look at food,” Jelly Roll said.

In April, Jelly Roll’s wife, Bunny EXO, revealed that the singer was taking a break from social media due to negative comments about his weight. He returned to Instagram on May 9.

“My husband stopped using the Internet because he was tired of being bullied because he was overweight,” she said on her radio show “Dumb Blonde.” “It makes me want to cry because he is the sweetest angel baby.”

“My husband doesn’t show it to you guys, but I’m going to have a very vulnerable moment here,” Bonnie Shaw told her listeners. “It hurts him.”

Back at the 2023 CMA Awards, Jelly Roll told Fox News Digital that his weight-loss journey gave him “the will to live.”

“I don’t even have a goal when it comes to health,” he said at the time. “I just want to keep doing the right thing and feeling better. I’m starting to find the will to live, and I want to rely on that. That’s it. I just want to be happier.”

“Weight is usually directly linked to mental health, so I try to control that and the rest follows,” Jelly Roll continued.
