Los Angeles is preparing for its first back-to-back this season and may have to play without second-year guard Jalen Hood-Schivino.
JHS is listed as questionable due to illness, the team announced Thursday.
While Hood-Schinino did not touch the floor in the Lakers’ home opener, his absence from this game will leave them with a few experienced guards on the bench.
The only player with minutes in the NBA who can be trusted to be called upon who isn’t in a nine-man rotation is Cam Reddish.
Not a bad option, but ideally, you want everyone to be ready to play.
The rest of the injury report is almost identical to the one we received before the game against Wolves.
Christian Koloko is waiting for the NBA Fitness to Play Committee to medically clear him. Jared Vanderbilt and Christian Wood are recovering from surgeries, and other players are also out.
The good news for the Lakers is that everyone who played in the first game of the season is healthy and available.
It will be interesting to see if both LeBron James and Anthony Davis will play in every game this weekend. So far, the Lakers have given no indication as to whether they will manage loads early this season.
What is clear is that they will participate in Friday’s game against the Suns. Hopefully JHS will feel better and can be upgraded to the version available before starting the game and joining them.
