Like Ted Lasso and Bad Monkey? You should watch Shrinking on Apple TV+

Apple TV+ is home to a growing number of beloved and critically acclaimed shows. One such series, Bad Monkey, just wrapped its first season. And the most popular TV+ series of all time, Ted Lasso, is gearing up for its long-awaited fourth season. If you enjoy these shows, you should definitely try Shrinking. This is why.

It completes Bill Lawrence’s TV+ trifecta

Believe it or not, Ted Lasso, Bad Monkey, and Shrinking have one big thing in common: Bill Lawrence is one of the minds behind them all.

Lawrence is the co-creator of all three series and was somewhat of a showrunner as well. While each series has its own distinct flavour, they all fit the “comedy with a twist” vibe that Lawrence is known for. Chances are, if you enjoyed Lasso and Monkey, Downsizing will be your jam, too.

Harrison Ford comedy

“Shrinking” is about a psychotherapist, played by Jason Segel, who makes a few mistakes in the way he counsels his clients. Siegel’s missteps add comedy gold to Harrison Ford, a breakout star of the series.

Ford plays Paul, Segel’s boss and reluctant mentor. And in every scene he’s in, Ford makes me think he’s been a comedic actor his whole life. If you like Ford’s work as an action star, you owe it to yourself to see a different side of his acting.

Season 2 is almost here

That’s right, a new season of Shrinking is coming up. Season 2 begins next Wednesday, October 16. This is the perfect time to dive into the first season and watch it. It’s 10 episodes, each about half an hour long, so there’s not much to do.

Bonus: Roy Kent

Brett Goldstein, the man known as Roy Kent, is a major creative force behind Shrinking. He co-created alongside Lawrence, a role that blossomed from the two’s work on Ted Lasso. It turns out that Goldstein will also be a guest star in the new season of Shrinking in a role completely different from anything we’ve seen him do before.

Deflation: Conclusion and next steps

I haven’t talked much about what Shrinking is actually about, but trust me, if you enjoyed Ted Lasso and the Bad Monkey, Shrinking is a safe bet. Although I will warn you that the first episode is a little underwhelming, it quickly turns around and brings a healthy dose of heart and humor.
