Adult Swim is closing two more seasons of its No. 1 rated series, Rick and Morty, which was revealed at New York Comic Con today. With the renewals, fans can expect new episodes until 2029.
Attendees in New York City enjoyed a first-look animated teaser from the Season 8 episode, which will premiere in 2025 — watch it above.
Created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, the adult animated series follows a genius, sociopathic scientist who drags his naturally shy grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe.
It features the voices of Ian Cardone as Rick and Harry Belden as Morty – starting in Season 7 after Roiland’s exit – as well as Chris Parnell, Spencer Grammer, Sarah Chalke, and Harmon, to name a few.
Rick and Morty was the No. 1 comedy on all cable channels during seasons 3, 4, 5 and 6, according to Adult Swim, and took home two Emmys for Outstanding Animated Program.
“No one wants a world without Rick and Morty,” Harmon said in a statement. “Fortunately, the list of places to go is still endless.”
Marder added: “I couldn’t be prouder to have gotten this pass of the baton during Rick and Morty Season 4 and getting us into Season 10. Going even further now is a gift I can’t wait to give the fans. Rick and Morty – 100 Years – Forever !
Sitting in the exhibit hall today at New York Comic Con were executive producers Harmon and Marder and cast members Belden, Cardoni, Chalke, Grammer and Parnell.
