Rudy Giuliani's daughter says she lost her elderly father to Donald Trump

Rudy Giuliani’s daughter Caroline has urged Americans to be wary of former President Donald Trump ahead of the 2024 presidential election after seeing her father’s life “crumble” over his relationship with Trump.

In a new Vanity Fair article published on September 30, Caroline, an outspoken Democrat, implored the public not to vote for Trump after seeing what happened to her father and declared her support for Vice President Kamala Harris in the high-stakes presidential race. .

“After months of grieving the death of a loved one, it occurred to me that I was grieving the loss of my father because of Trump,” Carolyn said. “And I couldn’t bear to lose our country to him, too.” , 35, wrote in part for Vanity Fair.

“I know some people might wonder if I really care about my father, because another Trump presidency could theoretically alleviate some of the issues he faces,” she continued, apparently referring to her father’s latest legal troubles. “It pains me to think that my father might wonder that. But if you look at the picture, Trump being president was the worst thing that ever happened to my father, to my family, and to our nation’s modern history.”

“The consequences will be more serious – and irreversible – the second time around,” Caroline warned.

Caroline is a Los Angeles-based writer and filmmaker, one of Giuliani’s two children with his second wife, Donna Hanover. Last week, Giuliani, the former New York City mayor and Trump’s former personal lawyer, was formally disbarred from the bar in Washington, D.C., over his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Giuliani, once heralded as “America’s mayor” who sought to unite the country in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, served as Trump’s personal lawyer during the frenzy that followed the 2020 election, which nearly led to the collapse of his legal career. .

“Watching my father’s life unravel since he joined Trump has been deeply painful, both personally and because his death seems linked to a dark force that threatens to consume America once again,” Carolyn wrote to Vanity Fair.

Caroline wrote that she and her father shared a “complicated, cartoonish relationship,” and stressed that she loved her 80-year-old father, and “the last thing I want to do is hurt him, especially when he’s already down.”

She acknowledged that the time she spends with parents is limited, adding that this fact “makes this the hardest article I have ever written,” but stressed that the weight of the upcoming race “is greater than any of us.”

Giuliani’s daughter expressed support for the Harris-Tim Walz ticket and said she will “never forget” the night her father convinced her he was considering becoming Trump’s lawyer, as she begged him to reconsider.

“I didn’t hold anything back. I expressed all my concerns about Trump’s overt racism, rampant misogyny, and complete lack of empathy… For the rest of that night, I held out hope that the daughter’s emotional pleading might actually sway the father,” Carolyn wrote.

Elsewhere in the article, she added: “But nothing I experienced prepared me for the relentless public collapse of my father’s life.”

Carolyn also publicly supported President Joe Biden and Harris’ campaign in the 2020 race, and has backed several Democratic candidates over the years, including Hillary Clinton and former President Barack Obama.

Over the summer, she posted an undated photo of herself and Harris on Instagram with a stern message.

“Please join me in uniting behind @kamalaharris to stop Trump. It’s now or never,” she said.
