New York State Police confirmed that a woman and two children crossed the guardrail and fell into the falls on Monday night.
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – The New York State Park Police and the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation are investigating an incident on Goat Island in Niagara Falls.
According to a release from the New York State Police on Tuesday, officers responded to an incident that occurred on or around Goat Island around 9 p.m. Monday evening.
In an updated statement on Wednesday, NYSP confirmed that a 33-year-old woman, 9-year-old, and 5-month-old crossed the safety barrier and went over Niagara Falls on Luna Island, which is attached to Goat Island.
The victims were identified as Chianti Means, 33, Roman Rossman, 9 years old, and Micah Means, 5 months.
According to the NYSP statement, “The investigation has determined that this incident was intentional in nature, although the circumstances remain under investigation. Search/rescue efforts were conducted by the New York State Park Police and State Police with negative results. This incident is not considered a public threat.” To safety.”
NYSP Unmanned Aircraft Systems, Aviation, Underwater Recovery Unit, New York State Park Police and Niagara Falls Police Department are assisting in the investigation.
