Team news: Two changes for Shakhtar’s visit | Team News | news

Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus have been brought into the starting line-up for our match with Shakhtar Donetsk at Arsenal Stadium.

Jesus takes the captain’s armband as he starts for the fourth time this season, while Martinelli also returns to the starting line-up. Mikel Merino and Raheem Sterling are the two who have withdrawn from Saturday’s squad that faced Bournemouth.

So David Raya continues in goal behind the same back four of Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel and Riccardo Calafiore.

Thomas Partey and Declan Rice are back in midfield again, with Kai Havertz starting up front. The German is looking forward to becoming the first player ever to score in eight consecutive matches at the Emirates Stadium.

Other than that there are no changes to the squad, meaning the likes of Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Jorren Timber are yet to return from injury.

As for the visitors, Shakhtar enters the match with only one point from the first two matches. They made three changes to the side that lost 3-0 to Atalanta last time out.

Arsenal: Raya, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiore, Partey, Rice, Jesus, Martinelli, Trossard, Havertz. Subs: Neto, Setford, Keiyur, Zinchenko, Monluis, Robinson, Lewis Skelly, Jorginho, Merino, Nwaneri, Sterling, Butler Oyedeji.
