The Nigerian community in Colorado Springs is celebrating Nigerian Independence Day on Sunday

COLORADO SPRINGS – The Nigerian community in Colorado Springs celebrated Nigerian Independence Day over the weekend. The Colorado Springs Nigerian Nonprofit Association held a celebration on Sunday.

The celebration of Nigerian culture and society marks the 64th anniversary of the country’s independence.

News5 spoke with organizers who said they wanted to celebrate their rich cultural heritage.

The non-profit organization hopes the celebration will reach a larger audience and highlight community contributions to the USA’s Olympic City.
