Check out the odds for Ibo Aslan vs. Raffael Cerqueira at UFC 308 on Saturday, October 26, with betting preview and details.

Ibo Aslan makes his second UFC appearance of Dana White’s Contender Series when he meets Rafael Cerqueira, a relatively unknown newcomer from Brazil.

Their bout is the featured pre-show for UFC 308, and I’m targeting the overall fight.

This is my pick and prediction for Aslan vs. Cerqueira.

Aslan avenged his only professional loss by knocking out Anton Turkalj in his UFC debut, and frankly, he didn’t look all that impressive.

Issan is a powerful striker who relies solely on his physical fitness to run through his opponents. Turkalj was able to withstand the strike force the first time they fought in 2020, setting a pace on Aslan that ended up being his undoing.

In fact, Aslan made the necessary adjustments to win the rematch earlier this year. But it showed his potential limitations as Turkal was having much more success than he should have and Aslan seemed to be fading again.

Aslan’s next opponent at UFC 308, Cerqueira, is making his UFC debut, and other than being a teammate of current UFC fighter Jelton Almeida, we don’t know much about him.

You would think that being a teammate of Almeida, this guy would be a solid wrestler. However, in all the fights I’ve been able to watch, Cerqueira prefers to strike a lot. He’s built a highlight reel and is capable of some very flashy hitting techniques, but he looks more like a home run hitter than a walk-off winner.

This fight plays out interestingly because both men seem more than capable of finishing the fight, but at this point, I would say they fall into the “can crusher” category. I’m not sure which of them belong to the UFC; Not sure if either of them are affiliated with the UFC.

This fight must be violent, and whoever makes the first mistake may hit the canvas. I would say I have confidence in Aslan’s ability to hold his own, but he hasn’t really been tested against another big hitter at the UFC level.

Aslan vs. Cerqueira Beck

This fight is a choice, and my hunch is that Aslan will find the most important player in the end. However, I’m going to ride the total instead.

In theory, both men get a step up in competition here, and whenever that happens, the fights tend to be more competitive and last a little longer.

In 2024, the rate of UFC decisions has skyrocketed. Some of that has to do with the fighters and their game plans, but some of that is being blamed on the UFC’s new gloves.

Be that as it may, we rarely get reasonable 1.5 totals these days (let alone extra money), and I think we should try to take advantage of that.

Clint’s pick: Aslan vs. Cerqueira in 1.5 rounds (+105 at bet365)
