As the Golden State Warriors prepare to start the 2024-25 NBA season next week, chasing their fifth title in the last 11 seasons, they will do so with constant reminders of some of the franchise’s legends. Just weeks after announcing that the team would wear a patch on its jerseys bearing the number 16 to honor Al Attles, Golden State revealed that the court at Chase Center will have a sticker with the initials and signature of the great Jerry West.
The poster will be on the sideline near the broadcast table, on Golden State’s court side. He will remain there throughout next season.

West, the only person to have been inducted into the Hall of Fame three times — once as a player, once as a member of the USA team that won the gold medal in the 1960 Olympics, and on Sunday, as an executive — died in June at the age of 86. Although he is best known for his time with the Lakers, where he played in all 14 seasons in the NBA (and made the All-Star team each year), coached, worked as a scout and was a general manager for nearly two decades, West has been an integral part From the history of warriors as well. He served as an executive board member in Golden State for six years, during which he helped oversee countless critical decisions — and was reportedly a leading voice in the team’s push to not trade Klay Thompson early in the sharpshooter’s career.
In addition to the court decal, the Warriors will be reminded of the West every time they suit up, since West’s profile serves as the NBA’s logo. The Dubs will also hold a moment of silence to honor West in Friday night’s preseason finale against the Los Angeles Lakers.
