Following reports of Teofimo Lopez being in negotiations for a fight with Devin Haney, Lopez took to social media to shoot down those reports, saying they are all just rumors and that he is still targeting a fight against Terence Crawford next year.
“How many of you want to see that fight, me and Hani?” Lopez asked. “Because I don’t know, man.” There are rumors spreading out there, that’s all I know. Lots of rumours. I didn’t receive anything, that’s all I know.
“Next year. I promise you guys will fight [with Crawford] It will happen sometime in the summer, next year, or near the fall, next year. 20025 is a great year to seize…we have a lot of great battles coming up. I hear rumors, of course, about negotiations between me and Devin Haney. Now, sorry to say it guys, but this is all false, accusations until further notice guys.
The 27-year-old Lopez recently came off a unanimous decision win over Steve Clagett last June and doesn’t appear to be on the verge of an imminent return.
