GEORGETOWN, Ohio — A weak earthquake was reported on the Ohio-Kentucky border Thursday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
The USGS reported a 2.4 magnitude earthquake just after 10:30 a.m. in the Georgetown, Ohio area. A 2.4 is considered weak and often leaves no damage in its wake.
There have been no reports of damage from this particular earthquake, but the USGS says areas directly east and southeast of the star on the map below could feel the quake.

The US Geological Survey reported that the quake occurred at a depth of just over 5 miles below the surface.
Earthquakes are not common in the Tri-State area, but they have occurred over the years, including a 3.0 magnitude quake in 2021 near the same area as this latest report.
