Lightning started hitting the ground. No chance of them getting out of there anytime soon I’m afraid.

In the meantime, why don’t we take a look at some of the cricket articles we’ve published in the last few days.

First up – Sports Interviewer Don McRae had a reflective and revealing conversation with Jimmy Anderson:

He pauses when I ask him what would have happened to him without cricket. “It’s a great question,” Anderson says. “I have no idea. I completed sixth form and thought about going to university if I didn’t get a contract. I had no idea what I would do if cricket didn’t happen. It’s scary because I’m sure there are a lot of people in the same situation and not They have that thing that I loved with a passion. I feel very lucky to have played cricket.

His wife, Daniella, was furious when England abandoned him as a player. Is she still angry now that Anderson is back in the fold as Test bowling coach? “I think so, yes. She’s been my biggest supporter since we first met. I’ve had injuries and she was the one who motivated me to come back. I just felt like it wasn’t the right way to do things. I felt like I had to go on my own terms. But I think “It’s easing up now.”

Hi Sam Macaulay! Looks like this hot dog might be useful in eliminating any lightning that comes your way. No more comments, Your Honor.

Relax, we probably still have work to do here. We can finish with five goals if we get to the park before 8:30pm local time. (Heck)

I don’t face this. As if things didn’t seem dire enough now…

Will you fall for the challenging game Raiiiiiiiin?

Bob Dylan was in London that night, and had a lot of fun with the show.

The artist who declared himself free in 1963 seems no longer inclined to stick to any script 61 years later. It’s best to stay close to the man in charge and keep your eyes open for clues as to where he’s headed. As they follow his unpredictable vocal phrases and piano style that’s simultaneously florid and ripping—Art Tatum by way of Les Dawson—he’s still capable of making mistakes: There are moments when you could swear the band is starting to build to its climax or slowing down. Conclusion, only to discover that their leader has other ideas.

Reports of thunderclaps at boom level sound around the stadium. Are you close to any local OBOers and become thin during storms? Drop us a line in the usual way, through the links on the right side of this page.

Some wet weather reading? Martin Began has you covered as he delves into how time bides for anyone, not even Australian cricketers:

Australian cricket had many reminders that Father Time was undefeated. The lingering effects of the end of every cricketer and every era have been felt in recent decades as fallow years have followed the bumper crops of the conquering Australians. However, it remains to be seen whether the lessons of the past have truly been learned as the current men’s Test team begins another summer of cricket teetering towards the brink.

Toss was delayed due to the threat of lightning

Gah, while the skies turn from pitch black to metallic gray here in south London, Brisbane seems to be having a touch of English weather with storms in the area and annoying rain falling.

The Gabba covers are very good at the moment, but I’ll keep you updated, and my sources tell me we’ll get some cricket and it won’t be a complete loss.

For now, we wait.

Preamble by James Wallace

Hello, good evening/morning and welcome to the first T20 between Australia and Pakistan at the Gabba.

Australia are licking their wounds after a shock defeat in the ODI series, and Pakistan’s first win in a white-ball series Down Under since 2002 was well deserved, as they came from behind to snatch a 2-1 win with some blistering pace and emphatic hitting.

Some believe Australia’s white-ball injury is somewhat self-inflicted, with a weak side of strength and the absence of many big names in play. Well, welcome to world cricket in 2024.

The absence of Mitch Marsh and Travis Head allows others to come to the fore and make a name for themselves on the international stage, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matthew Short will open the batting together in the format for the first time, and there is plenty of new blood in the Australian bowling line-up.

Josh Inglis and his team look to bounce back as Pakistan hunts for the double, so let’s find out who comes through!

Play starts in just over 30 minutes and I’ll be back with the teams and draw lots as soon as I tickle them.
