WWE Hall of Famer and former WCW President Eric Bischoff spoke on an episode of his 83 Weeks podcast, where he addressed a number of topics including the possibility of AEW Shockwave landing on FOX.
“It’s not going to air on TV. This is fiction. Look, the skew is – I understand. He’s excited. He’s there to promote his company. He just got a big contract renewal, and he’s doing what he has to do and promoting the company he works for,” Bischoff said. And I like that I think he went a little further in suggesting – and he actually suggested that – that Fox Network didn’t renew SmackDown, which brought in about 2.5 million, 2.3 million viewers a week, and they would replace them with an AEW product that couldn’t find 600 or 700,000 viewers a week. And in the frenzy, we were looking at 300 or 400,000 a week. Does anyone in their right mind think that FOX is going to say, “Well, we couldn’t make SmackDown work with two and a half million viewers.” Man, this show Rampage or Collision, okay! And this is the new thing they’re coming out with, let’s do it. I understand why Swerve did it. He’s emotional. He’s doing what he has to do. I don’t see it That, no. Believing it can happen is a reflection of a lack of information and knowledge, also known as ignorance.
On any night it can be broadcast:
“So Monday will be over by default. Tuesday is NXT on the CW, which is kind of weird. They have Wednesday, and Thursday I think that’s a possibility. I don’t see Friday for a lot of reasons.”
