Today’s Forbes New York Times Topics: Hints, Spinograms, and Answers for Wednesday, October 23, by Eric Kane
Today is Thor’s day, which probably means we should make some sort of sacrifice to the gods since everything I’ve seen showing the Norse god lately has depicted him as being uniquely bad and terrible – unlike the Marvel comic book version, that is. I suppose the gods are fickle, deceitful, and strange in many ways, especially the gods of warlike mortals. Blood and storm seemed appropriate for a thunder god. But I digress. It’s Thursday and we have a Strands mystery to solve!
Strands is the latest game in the New York Times line of puzzle games. It’s a fun twist on classic word search games. Each day we are given a new topic and then tasked with revealing all the words on the grid that fit that topic, including the extended chart that runs along either side of the board. One of these words is the outline that moves from one side of the grid to the other and reveals more about the topic of the day.

I think this type of yarn is harder than usual, mostly because I started researching teas and ran into real difficulties. Even when I found CHAI, it didn’t work (although I quickly realized it had to be part of the spaniogram). I found the anise first, oddly enough, then the cardamom. After Cinnamon, I made my way out of Chai and found Masalachai. Everything since then has been pretty simple, but this one definitely blew my mind for a while!
