The 67th Grammy Awards nominations honored musicians Hans Zimmer and Atticus Ross and films like Twisters and The Color Purple with nods across multiple categories.
Zimmer was nominated for the Best Score for Visual Media category with the soundtrack to Dune: Part II (2024) and also for the Best Song Written for Visual Media category with “Love Will Survive” from The Tattooist of Auschwitz, which he wrote with Cara. Damaged, Midnight Charlie and Walter Afanasieff. Barbra Streisand sings the song from the series based on Heather Morris’ book of the same name.
Atticus Ross is nominated as composer with collaborator Trent Reznor for the soundtrack to the film The Defiant (2024) starring Zendaya, Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor. Ross, along with Leopold Ross and Nick Cuba, has two nominations in the same category — Best Score for Visual Media — with FX’s Shogun, which also took home several awards at the 2024 Emmys. Ross’ indie rock band Nine Inch Nails will headline Then record the score in Tron: Ares.
The Color Purple (2023) has nods for composer Chris Powers in the Best Score for Visual Media category as well as Best Compilation Soundtrack for the various artists who contributed.
Lee Isaac Chung’s Twisters (2024) is nominated for Best Compilation Original Score for Visual Media as well as for Luke Combs’ song “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma,” which the country singer co-wrote with Jesse Alexander and Jonathan Singleton.

Oliva Rodrigo’s “Can’t Catch Me Now” which plays over the credits of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes was also nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media, as was “Better Place” from TROLLS: Band Together For Best Song Written for Visual Media. Written by Justin Timberlake and *NSYNC. Both films were released last year.
Other films nominated for Best Compilation Original Score for Visual Media include Saltburn (2023), Maestro: The Music of Leonard Bernstein which marks Bradley Cooper’s fourth Grammy nomination after three nominations from his A Star Is Born (2019) collaboration with Lady Gaga.
Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) also took home the award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.

To be eligible for the 67th Grammy Awards, recordings must have been commercially released in the United States between September 16, 2023, and August 30, 2024, which is why films from the end of 2023 are only receiving nods now.
