After being treated to a slew of really great uniform matchups in Week 5, this week’s Sunday games won’t feature the same amount of eye candy. The Patriots will be wearing their Patriots jerseys and the Carolina Panthers will debut a brand new kit (and wait until you see what pants they’ve chosen), but for the most part, the games won’t look as pretty as they did last week. All uniform combinations are shown below updated as of 6:45 PM ET, but there are still a few teams who have not announced their pants/socks. I will update this post if anything changes.
Sunday’s games probably won’t be as great (or at least as good as last week), but Monday night will see the New York Jets wearing Super Bowl jerseys (I’ll say more about that on Monday). Moving on to this week’s pairings…
_________
Jaguars vs Bears
The Jags returned to London to face the Bears. White jerseys over black pants/socks for Duvall, while the Bears wear their regular home uniforms. At least the Brits will see the Bears at home better on Sunday.
__________
Cardinals vs Packers
This game has the potential to be a great looking game, with the Packers wearing their beautiful green and gold versus the Cardinals wearing their monochromatic white. Sure, the Cardinals’ white uniforms could use some tweaks (like swapping out the black for silver on the stripes), but otherwise they’re a pretty solid unit.
__________
Eagles vs. Browns
This one should look good, even though it will be white below the waist. The Eagles are running their standard kit now in green/green/white/white, while the Browns wear the classic orange/white/white. Maybe not a top five match, but good. I would have preferred brown to go with the orange pants.
__________
Texans vs. Patriots
The Patriots will break out their impressive comeback this Sunday. The Texans will be facing off with their white jerseys, blue shorts and blue socks. This might look good, although the University of Texas in all-navy below the waist isn’t her best look. We’ll need to see this on the field.
__________
Colts vs. Titans
Contrast won’t be an issue in this game, as the Colts will be wearing all white (hopefully with royal blue hose), while the Giants will be wearing their monochrome navy duds.
__________
Pirates vs. Saints
Once again, the Saints will be wearing their black shorts and socks with their black jerseys – as I often recall, the team has worn their gold shorts in all three preseason games, but have yet to wear them in the regular season. The Bucs haven’t announced their pants yet, but perhaps they’ll opt for their white kit. Wearing pewter pants is a better look for them, but it may not be appropriate for this match.
Update: The Bucs will indeed be wearing white pants for this game.
__________
Leaders vs. Crows
As of this writing, the captains have not revealed their pants preferences, but with the Ravens going purple on white, Washington wearing burgundy pants and white hose is likely a better match. It can look pretty good, actually.
Update: Leaders will wear burgundy pants, but will wear burgundy socks.
__________
Steelers vs. Raiders
When these two teams meet, we’re always guaranteed a great looking game, and on Sunday, both will be at their best on Sunday. With a few minor tweaks and with the obvious concessions to the new uniform design and cuts, this game will look exactly like the one played decades ago. This is a good thing. This product is almost certainly in the top five, it’s just a question of where.
__________
Chargers vs Broncos
If only the Broncos had chosen to wear Orange Crush gear for three games, instead of two, this would have been the game. Unfortunately, their third alternate game will be against the Browns in Week 13, where hopefully they’ll pick the least terrible combination (white/blue/orange IMO, but none of them look good). So they will be wearing blue hats and orange shirts, but they have not yet announced their pants. They have yet to wear anything but white shorts and socks with the new orange shirt, but will they decide to wear orange/orange/orange or orange/blue/blue for the first time? Either way, hopefully the Chargers will be white over gold.
Update: The Chargers will actually be wearing gold pants! This has a chance to be your Sunday color palette.
Update #2: The Broncos will wear their blue shorts and socks with their orange jerseys, the first time this combination has ever been worn.
__________
Falcons vs. Panthers
Welcome. We learned earlier this week that the Panthers would debut a never-before-worn combination against the Dirty Birds, but we only learned a little while ago what pants and socks they would wear with the black helmet and Process Blue jersey. They will go black/blue/blue/black, which is definitely an interesting decision. The Falcons will face the Black/White/Black/White, a combination they wore in the preseason this year. This would definitely be an odd pairing that could go bad. At least the only color element they have in common is the black helmet. But before I throw away this pairing, I want to see him on the field.
__________
Lions vs cowboys
The Lions will wear their silver helmets and white jerseys, but have yet to announce their pants. Their best kit for this game might actually be the blue shorts and white socks, which would provide a decent contrast between the two teams. With the Cowboys pairing their white pants with the silver helmet/navy blue jersey, the Lions wearing Honolulu blue/white below the waist could make a push for fifth place. maybe. And I’m not getting my hopes up either.
Update: Unfortunately, the Lions will be adding white pants and socks to their silver/white helmets and jerseys.
__________
Bengals vs. Giants
Here’s a case where both teams have very strong uniforms, but they might not look great when combined together. We actually had a similar matchup between the two in 2020 (Sensei was at home, wearing a Color Rush uniform back then). It’s not terrible by any means, and this time it will be all Bengalis wearing black hose. This could sneak into the top five.
