Olivia Rodrigo confirms she is fine after falling at a Melbourne concert

Olivia Rodrigo wasn’t kidding about “going under” on her Guts World Tour.

During her October 13 concert in Melbourne, the “Vampire” singer took an unexpectedly brutal fall as thousands of fans screamed in shock. Rodrigo was running around, greeting fans when she started running to the other side of the stage without looking – and so she disappeared from view, falling into a hole in the stage floor.

According to the footage captured by fans of this moment, Rodrigo managed to catch herself and recover like a champion.

“Oh my God!” “That was fun,” she said as she stepped off the low platform. “I’m fine!”

She continued to climb right out, continuing to make light of the tumble, and said jokingly, “Sometimes, there’s just a hole in the stage. Well, where have you been? How are you tonight, Melbourne?”

Rodrigo continued to make jokes on social media, joining the “hidden prediction” trend on TikTok with an edit highlighting her sudden fall on stage. And in case fans were still worried, she also reassured everyone with a comment below the video, writing, “I’m fine haha” with a heart emoji.

Meanwhile, fans didn’t hold back when it came to turning her song’s lyrics into puns. One user wrote: “That was a bad idea, wasn’t it?”, while another joked: “Always one step forward and three steps down.”

The accidental dive wasn’t the only dramatic moment at Rodrigo’s latest concert. On X (formerly Twitter), one fan joked, “There was something in the air last night,” and shared a video of two onstage mishaps.

In one instance, the “Savage” singer had a brief wardrobe malfunction, as a bracelet got stuck in her hair mid-choreography, causing her to continue singing despite the awkward situation. In the other photo, Rodrigo’s hair gets caught in her microphone, pulling out more than a few strands at a time.

Despite those brief missteps, the singer has had huge success when it comes to her recent series of concerts. Rodrigo’s Guts Tour, in support of her second album of the same name, kicked off in February 2024 and runs through March 2025. To date, supporting acts have included the Breeders, Remi Wolf, and seismic pop star Chappell Roan.

As for those who can’t attend her shows, Rodrigo has confirmed that fans will be able to celebrate the Guts tour from the comfort of their own homes: earlier this month, she announced that the Guts concert special will debut on Netflix on October 29.

“I’m very excited to share the GUTS World Tour with my fans,” Rodrigo said in the initial announcement. “For those of you who didn’t get a chance to enjoy it in person, you can now have the best seats in the house! And to the fans who cheered, screamed, and danced with me, I’m so happy we get to do it again!”
