Pittsburgh Steelers safety slams former team: 'Soft as (expletive)'

Pittsburgh Steelers safety DeShon Elliott may be the most direct shooter in the entire locker room. Steelers players don’t have a hard time telling each other how they’re doing or being honest, even in media sessions, but Elliott completely opened up on Marlon Humphrey’s Punch Line Podcast when discussing the 2023 Miami Dolphins.

Elliott signed with the Steelers this offseason after playing for the Dolphins last year. He didn’t mince words, calling the Dolphins from last year “soft as (expletive)” as a team.

“Last year I played on a team that was soft as (expletive)… There were some tough guys, but the majority team wasn’t mentally tough individuals,” Elliott said.

The Dolphins lost in the playoffs, with Elliott starting. Elliott was forced to take over due to injuries after being signed as a reserve, but he has taken his game to another level this year with the Steelers as the strong safety.

The Steelers don’t play the Dolphins this season, but they will face them in 2025. Elliott signed a two-year contract, and with the way he’s played, there’s no reason to believe he won’t be in Pittsburgh for a game that should be taking place next year.
