If the Rams lose their next two games — Sunday at the Raiders and Thursday against the Vikings 5-0 — those calls could accelerate.

Trading Cobb, 31, would be complicated to say the least. The Super Bowl LVI MVP was a member of Sean McVay’s first draft class and the two were close to each other. He’s a fan favorite and a favorite of quarterback Matthew Stafford. While rookie Jordan Whittington has filled his position competently (18 receptions, 201 yards), he is no Cobb.

There are also questions about will the Rams actually do it?

Cobb could be the final piece to a playoff-ready team, but his contract could also lead to some adjustment. He’s scheduled to receive a $7.5 million bonus (5 million of which is fully guaranteed) in March, which the acquiring team would theoretically pick up. Then there is another $5 million bonus in 2026 that is not guaranteed.

He’s due roughly $20 million in cash in each of the next three seasons, though only one year is guaranteed.

As the Rams have shown, if there is a deal that is palatable to them, they can figure out his contract to facilitate a trade.

Meanwhile, the Adams trade to the Jets also left Mike Williams, the big leaguer New York signed this offseason, as a potential trade chip. Sources say several teams have contacted him, including the Steelers and his old team, the Chargers.

Pittsburgh has been in the market for a wide receiver since it tried to trade for Brandon Aiyuk before re-signing him with the 49ers. The team will get a close look at Williams when they face the Jets-Steelers on Sunday.

Williams did not participate in training on Wednesday and Thursday for personal reasons, but returned to training fully on Friday. It appears his days with the Jets may be numbered. A trade for Williams would also be relatively simple, with the Jets paying most of his salary up front.

These aren’t the only players whose names are sparking interest in trade discussions, according to sources:
