ABC just revealed its midseason lineup, and Tim Allen’s newest sitcom, SHIFTING GEARS, will premiere early next year.
Starting on Thursdays in January, the network will air the second season of Hulu’s only series Murders on the Block, as well as The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The network will also air The Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Cherie Papini.
The only new program that will be debuting is Allen’s SHIFTING GEARS.
“SHIFTING GEARS, which also stars Kat Dennings, will debut Wednesday nights on the network beginning January 8” at 8pm ET/PT, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The series revolves around Matt (Allen), a widowed auto restoration shop owner, and his attempts to reconnect with his estranged daughter (Kat Dennings), who moves into Matt’s house with her two teenage children. He said.
Allen can’t wait for you to watch it.
“Don’t tell anyone, really, this is between us. I’m so excited. ABC has come up with a new idea for a sitcom, and I think I’m in.”
Fans commented on the post enthusiastically.
“Can’t wait 🙌🏿 Been watching Tim Allen since home improvement days 😎” one user said.
Another person added: “Yay! I just finished watching Home Improvement and Last Man Standing. Every year I watch all the Santa Claus and Santa Claus movies. Big fan of yours since I was little, so excited ❤️😊”
SHIFTING GEARS also dropped its first photo, which shows Allen and Dennings smiling side by side.
“The sitcom appears to capture Allen’s comedic strengths while allowing Dennings, also known for her dry wit and charm, to add her unique flair that she similarly brought to the MCU as Darcy Lewis,” Screen Rant speculated. “With a supporting cast that offers a range of comedic and dramatic expertise, SHIFTING GEARS is able to balance the nostalgia of Allen’s old sitcom with fresh appeal for new audiences.”
“The show’s got it all. It’s got fathers, it’s got daughters, it’s got actors that have been beloved for generations. Trust me, you’re going to love it,” Dennings said.
