WWE SmackDown has announced LA Knight’s United States Championship defense against Carmelo Hayes, the SmackDown return of Jimmy Uso after his surprise appearance at Bad Blood 2024, the appearance of Roman Reigns and the continuation of the Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens drama.

Last week’s SmackDown received 1.770 million viewers.

Jimmy Uso is still using his heel music, but now he has a babyface aura and reactions. Fans chanted “Welcome back!” The second opened his mouth.

Jimmy Uso immediately addressed his brother Jey as a reunion seems more inevitable than ever. Jimmy was then interrupted by Roman Reigns entering a marathon but was eaten up by the crowd.

Half of this opening segment is spent on chants and pops. It was mostly corona and there wasn’t much talk and there’s nothing wrong with that because it tells you how hot the product is.

Reigns teased Paul Heyman’s return by pointing out that “he’s not a wise man, he’s a tribal leader.” But for someone who’s not that wise, he cut a peppy promo for the OG Bloodline mode.

When Jimmy encouraged Reigns to consider getting help from Jey Uso, Jimmy said “not yet.”

Opening segment grade: A- LA Knight Def. Carmelo Hayes

LA Knight and Carmelo Hayes started at 100 mph. Andrade then appeared and was allowed to walk through the crowd and watch as a spectator. This appears to lead to a triple threat match. As great as Carmelo vs. Andrade was, hopefully this won’t be a Top 7 Triple Threat series.

LA Knight won cleanly, but the announcers really focused on how Andrade’s presence was the reason Carmelo Hayes lost this match.

Backstage, Jimmy Uso and Cody Rhodes met face to face where Cody thanked Jimmy Uso. Jimmy told Cody not to expect any more favors.

I have a passing feeling that Carmelo and Andrade might make a bad team.

Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson cut a great promo during the vignette to promote the Black Girl Magic Match against Bianca and Jade.

LA Knight vs. Carmelo Hayes Row: B Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill Def. Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson

Prior to this match, Kevin Owens made an awkward appearance to justify his shocking transformation. Kevin Owens interrupted the Black Girl Magic Tag Team match against Kanye Energy. Instead of “I will let you finish,” the KO might have been more like “I intend to let you finish…”

Owens brawled with Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes while security forces flooded the arena. It was a wild scene and achieved its goal of looking like a real fight.

Moments before this match, Bianca and Jade faced Chelsea Green and Pepper Niven. Even after he changed into a completely different outfit, and obviously took a shower, Chelsea still stunk (kayfabe).

Moments into this match, Lash Legend hit a Fireman’s Slam on Bianca Belair and it looked like this was going to be a squash match. Bianca was fired at the last second.

This was a wild, short match that featured many bicycle kicks and great double team moves. Bianca and Jade won the wheelbarrow double team finish.

Bianca and Jade vs. Lash and Jakara Grade: B

Naomi Dave. Nia Jax

Naomi slammed Nia Jax for not being able to win without her boyfriend. Jax came back by saying that it would take two people to install it.

Nia Jax called on Nick Aldis to send a referee so she can “annihilate Naomi.” Aldis obliged, but Liv Morgan (feat. Raquel Rodriguez and Dominik Mysterio) interrupted the segment before Liv’s match with Nia Champion vs. Champion in Saudi Arabia.

Both Nia Jax and Liv Morgan are heels, so it’s going to be a weird heel vs. heel match. Fortunately, they will be in Saudi Arabia in front of a paid crowd who are unfamiliar with the events of the story.

Raquel Rodriguez interfered, prompting Morgan to hit Jax with the WWE Women’s World Championship. This led to a powerbomb/rollup by Naomi for the win. This increased tension between the two world champions while building Naomi as the number one contender. In another surprise appearance, Rhea Ripley hit the ring to attack Liv Morgan.

In the parking lot, Kevin Owens ambushes Randy Orton as WWE continues to beat the hell out of him.

Naomi vs. Nia Jax Grade: B- Solo Sequoia Def. Jimmy Uso

WWE spent a lot of time promoting the music video for CM Punk and Drew McIntyre’s Hell in a Cell Match.

This looks like this is a match that Solo Sikoa should win outright or lose by DQ because he’s had a lot of big losses lately and Heel Bloodline needs to get his energy back.

Jimmy and Solo waged war on each other and went their separate ways, which made me remember that they are brothers and that the toughest matches are always between brothers and/or friends.

Jimmy Uso has gone a long way from months of not wrestling, so it’s understandable that he’s finally starting to blow up a bit.

After interference from The Bloodline, Solo Sikoa won this match using the Samoan Spike. Roman Reigns saved the day, setting up a dramatic confrontation between OTC and Solo. Jacob Fatu breaks it up and puts in both Roman and Jimmy. Reigns was placed with a Samoan Spike by Solo as SmackDown went off the air.

Solo Sekoa vs. Jimmy Uso Grade: B
