Adult Swim announces two additional seasons of “Rick and Morty” in New York City

Adult Swim announced today at New York Comic Con that it has greenlighted two additional seasons of Rick and Morty, ensuring the hit global comedy will reach a 12th season. Previously greenlit through Season 10, the No. 1 Adult Swim series, which follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his naturally shy grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe, will now run through 2029.

Rick and Morty was the #1 comedy on all cable channels during seasons 3, 4, 5, and 6, and won two Emmys for Outstanding Animated Program. The final season of Rick and Morty debuted in over 134 countries in 38 languages.

News of the green light was revealed during today’s Rick and Morty panel by series executive producers Dan Harmon and Scott Marder, who were joined by series regulars Harry Belden, Ian Cardone, Sarah Chalke, Spencer Grammer, and Chris Parnell. The panel also debuted as a quick animation from a season 8 episode, scheduled to premiere in 2025.

“Since Season 1, Rick and Morty has set a new standard in adult animation and shows no signs of stopping,” said Michael Ouellen, President of Adult Swim. “Dan, Scott and the rest of the extremely talented team behind Rick and Morty continually outdo themselves and I will join millions of fans around the world in looking forward to more adventures in the years to come.”

“Nobody wants a world without Rick and Morty,” Harmon said. “Fortunately, the list of places to go is still endless.”

“I couldn’t be prouder to have gotten that pass of the baton during Rick and Morty Season 4 and getting us into Season 10,” Marder said. “Getting even further now is a gift I can’t wait to give our fans. Rick and Morty – 100 years – forever!”
