It likely would have been difficult for passersby who were sharing the sidewalk with Rick Moranis to recognize the actor by sight when he was walking down a New York City street late last week.
The Ghostbusters star looked unrecognizable as he braved the cold weather on Friday, November 15. He was seen wearing a heavy brown leather jacket, greenish-brown baggy pants, and brown shoes. He completed his look with a green newsboy hat, his signature glasses, and brown gloves.

Photographers captured footage of Moranis, 71, alternating between looking straight ahead and looking at the sidewalk in front of him as he made his way around the city, and a pair of headphone wires could be seen inside the collar of his jacket. He was carrying a black reusable bag in one hand as he went on a short shopping spree at a nearby convenience store, according to the Daily Mail. The British tabloid obtained photos taken of the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids actor during an outing on Friday and published them the next day.

Sightings of the Little Shop of Horrors actor have been rare over the past two decades. Moranis, who became a well-known comedic figure in Hollywood in the 1980s and early 1990s, shifted his focus from acting to raising his two children after his wife died in 1991.
While he has continued to work as a writer and voice actor in the years since, he has mostly avoided working on live-action film projects. However, a return to this type of work was not out of the question as of 2015. At the time, he told The Hollywood Reporter that he was not opposed to returning to acting if the right role came along.
Moranis, who told Film Magazine at the time that he had “absolutely no regrets” about the pivot of his career, also admitted that he tends to be “picky” in the projects he chooses to work on. “Picky worked for me,” he explained.
